Today, Universal Orlando Resort and Warner Bros. Consumer Products announced that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park will open at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in spring 2010. Creator J.K. Rowling, as well as Potter films’ production designer Stuart Craig and art director Alan Gilmore, have collaborated with Universal to bring Rowling’s world to life.
Fans will have the chance to visit the village of Hogsmeade, shop at Diagon Alley, and, of course, explore the wizarding school at Hogwarts castle.
Rides will include the Dragon Challenge, a roller coaster emulating the Triwizard Tournament from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and the Flight of the Hippogriff coaster that simulates riding a hippogriff over Hogwarts, much like Harry and Buckbeak in Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban.
